The surface of my paintings reflect my roots in pastry and wedding cakes. I work to create a ground that mimics the sheen and flawlessness of a perfectly frosted cake. The forms that adorn these surfaces I can only describe as organic abstraction. in my minds eye, they are the patterns and shadows of everyday forms, but in the transfer to the canvas an abstraction occurs, leaving behind only their organic nature.

This work is about the development of a line. I wanted to see just how far I could push the bounds of a single line, how far I could push myself to continue the arduous process of painting a single family of colors and still have them sing a harmony.

Slowly, the process grew to include shapes created bt closing the ends of the lines. As these shapes evolved, organic and kinetic in nature, new relationships were born. This new work seems to reflect my familiarity with an everchanging world of candy coated naturalistic imagery.
